• Befriend other Young Carers What is ‘Boost’? Boost is a group where young carers can meet to talk about what it means to be a young carer. Boost sessions are needs-led and can focus on themes like anger, self-esteem or the condition of the person being cared for. Groups talk about how it feels to be a young carer, how it affects their life, and what they do to cope. They share experiences, do individual focus work, team challenges and activities, and can ask questions about their parent/sibling’s condition. Boost groups usually meet up for six sessions – one of which is a trip away - and there are normally about six to eight young carers of a similar age in a group. Why Boost? Boost groups are about YOU and trying to answer all your questions. They’ll show you that you’re not alone and give you the chance to talk about what’s on your mind. And if you find it hard to talk about stuff, there’s arts, crafts, dance and drama to express yourself! Contact our Boost group coordinator if you would like any more information. |
