Suffolk Family Carers

One to One Support PDF Print E-mail

One to One Support pictureWe recognise that being a young carer can be tough. We offer young carers the opportunity to meet up with a support worker to talk about things, and share the ups and downs of being a carer. Sometimes, this helps to resolve the issue, but sometimes we may support the young person and their family to seek specialist support such as counselling, practical advice on lifting, or emergency planning as appropriate.

One-to-one support is usually time-limited. Depending on the issue, we may agree to meet for several sessions, or have regular contact by phone, at school, or somewhere else depending on individuals’ needs.

We review our support every six to twelve months to check young carers’ needs are being met. This provides an opportunity to reassess the young carer's situation.

During the first few sessions, we make an assessment and agree a plan with the young carer about what our service can offer.

Please see also our Suffolk Young Carers Confidentiality Statement.

Contact us if you would like more information about the one-to-one support we offer.
