Suffolk Young Carers Project recognises that young people who spend a lot of their time helping to look after someone need breaks to have fun too! Meeting up with other young carers and having a rest from responsibility is important. We ask young carers what they would like to do to have a break. We organise day trips and respite residential breaks in the school holidays. We also support young carers to find leisure interests in their own community. In 2007, we set up bowling and cinema trips, a pony day, go-carting and mountain-biking. We also ran art and craft workshops and pottery painting, and residential holidays doing outdoor pursuits. On 1 August 2007, we held a ‘fun day’ to celebrate National Play Day. Contact us for more information about activities. |
